Country Living in North West Italy
I have just come into possesion a very old farmhouse, which I am calling Casa Vera, in rememberance of my mother It's situated in the hilly Alte Langhe in North West Italy although I'm living near Genoa on the Ligurian Riviera at the moment. I would like to share my experience with anyone who is interested in Italy, in old houses and family traditions
About Me

- Name: Jules
- Location: north west, Italy
I hate aggressiveness, superficiality and ostentatiousness. I prefer to be working rather than sitting around chatting or watching tv. I'm basically a home person and like being with my family and my friends are very important to me too. I also love being alone with time to organize my thoughts, to read a book or listen to music. I also like painting, writing poetry and doing crochet work but certain things are difficult to get your mind to if you know that you are going to be getting a lot of interruptions. I appreciate good taste but also originality. I like colourful ethnic things too and I'm not above being a bit kitchy. I admire intelligent but simple sensitive people without pretensions and love animals (especially horses, dogs cats and birds) and hills, trees and flowers. I like domestic things working at home and on the land doing the basic things one needs to do to live from day to day. To be near the earth, near to nature, living the seasons and getting satisfaction from seeing things get done.

Gorgeous photo, Jules.
Hello! I just stumbled upon your blog and what lovely pictures! I'm planning a trip in 2008, first timer.
Aside from painting we seem to have much in common. We are (still) renovating an old barn, in northern Idaho, into our future guest home. Little did we know it would have been easier to light a match, but the accomplishments are so amazing when I look back. Be back soon.

Well a year has passed but I'm back! I wonder if either of you will read this. Anyway thanks a lot for your comments. It's not 2008 yet Marlene. Are you still planning to come over?
Hi Jules, Boy, I was wondering if my comment scared you off or ???.
Glad your back!
Yes, I think we are coming out in Sept. 2008. I know it's a long way off but I also know time flies! Since neither of us, me and hubby, speak Italian it gives us a few months to do some quick lessons. My husbands aunt speaks Italian so we are going to check in and see if she is interested in going back for a visit. I'm also working on my genealogy with family from Sicily so I'm hoping to find a few distant relatives....
I've been looking at property in Sicily online, it's either scary looking or to much $$. Any pointers there?
Marlene
